Our Commitments to the United Nations Global Compact
As one of Qatar’s leading conglomerates operating across 5 key sectors, PIH is committed to empowering change and driving sustainable impact. Since joining the United Nations Global Compact in 2021, the world’s largest corporate sustainability initiative. We have worked to align our business practices with its Ten Principles in the areas of human rights, labor, environment, and anti-corruption, creating a brighter future from Qatar to the world.
The Ten Principles
Human Rights
Principle 1: Businesses should support and respect the protection of internationally proclaimed human rights. Principle 2: make sure that they are not complicit in human rights abuses.
Environment
Principle 7: Businesses should support a precautionary approach to environmental challenges. Principle 8: undertake initiatives to promote greater environmental responsibility. Principle 9: encourage the development and diffusion of environmentally friendly technologies.
Labour
Principle 3: Businesses should uphold the freedom of association and the effective recognition of the right to collective bargaining Principle 4: the elimination of all forms of forced and compulsory labour Principle 5: the effective abolition of child labour. Principle 6: the elimination of discrimination in respect of employment and occupation.
Anti-Corruption
Principle 10: Businesses should work against corruption in all its forms, including extortion and bribery.
Where Growth Meets Responsibility
In 2015, world leaders adopted the United Nations’ 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. The 2030 Agenda, which introduced 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), sets out a transformative plan for people and the planet.
It aims to promote shared prosperity, environmental sustainability and progress on sustainable development that leaves no one behind.
